On-Demand Group partnered with an emerging airline carrier to improve passenger services through a kiosk check-in application re-architecture project.
Challenge
Our airline client was in need of a new kiosk check-in application to replace the old one they had. The previous one was very unreliable and was not fit for use.
Solution
On-Demand Group developed a robust, high-performing, and reliable system utilizing the latest J2EE technologies that ran on IBM WebSphere Application Server. It allowed airport agents to perform basic functions like checking-in passengers and bags, collecting fees, and boarding. The new enhanced, flexible system that On-Demand Group built also allowed the airline to make enhancements and modifications to the application without paying service fees to another vendor.
Results
The impact that the new application made was very positive. Passengers were able to utilize the kiosk devices at the airport with ease and speed. Airport agents were delighted to see the improvement that the kiosks have made to their passenger handling process.
The impact that this application made was not only positive, but tremendous. Before this new system, the airline had to rely on a manual method – use of paper boarding passes, manual carbon-copying of credit cards, and handwritten bag tags.
The new application allowed the airline to offer more functionality to their customers and less headache for their airline staff and crew. It provided a more modern look and feel compared to the old application and improved efficiencies across the board.
